Long term exchanges
usually last for a school year, during which time the student
attends a school or college in the host country and lives with
several host families. The age range for these exchanges is typically
16 to 19 years.

|

Short-term exchanges
involve spending 3 weeks during the summer staying with an exchange
partner and exploring a different country, another culture and
possibly another language. And then, in return, hosting the same
exchange partner for 3 weeks.
|

Rotary also organises
special interest camps and tours which last between one and four
weeks. Each Camp is attended by one or two people from each countery
represented. The preferred language is normally English. There are
also special Camps for physically handicapped students.

|
Some Districts offer young
people, between the ages of 18 and 25, the opportunity to participate
in a New Generations Exchanges. These are vocational exchanges and
normally last from three to six weeks. |
