Offer: The Rotary Clubs of District 1400 invite you to their Summer Camp.
Accommodation: Participants will be hosted during the first week and the last two days in the homes of Rotarians and will spend the second week in the Ruka National Park
Dates: Sunday 13th July to Tuesday 29th July 2008
Age Group and Gender: 1M or 1F aged 16 to 20 at the start of the camp (date of birth between 13th July 1988 and 13th July 1992).
Cost: Return travel to Oulu Airport plus pocket money and insurance.
Insurance and Official papers: All participants are required to have insurance against illness, accident, third party claims and luggage loss. Evidence of insurance cover must be provided to the organisers on arrival.
Programme:

The camp consists of two parts. Participants will stay with host families in the City of Oulu from 13th to 20th July and will get to know Oulu and the nearby regions. On the 20th of July they will travel to Kuusamo, to the Ruka National Park for a hiking camp. They will walk the “Karhunkierros” which in toatal is around 80 km of well established and nice forest/river trail. They will hike for five days, spending the nights in tents and forest cottages and return to a cottage close to the Ruka region on 25th July and spend the weekend fishing, mountain biking or canoeing. On 27th they will return to Oulu for a closing event on 28th July. Participants will return home from Oulu on 29th July.

The following must be taken, a backpack, a sleeping bag, weatherproof clothing and suitable shoes for hiking. During the day time the temperature is typically between 15 and 25 C. And, be prepared to meet some mosquitoes. They are very common in northern Finland .

Closing Date: 15th April 2008. Camp is limited 16 people (8 male and 8 female). Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
